Each square is carefully painted onto a treated, crackled surface on wood, and sanded back just enough to reveal the irregularities of the surface. Edges of the large tiles are trimmed in antique gold, and carefully burnished to deepen the lustrous antique gold coloration. Each panel is painted with a different fleur de lis motif-ranging from ornate to graphic, painted in warm hues of sage green brush, taupe brown, ivory, gold, and warm yellow.
